Common solar panel problems Inner West homeowners face
The Inner West tree canopy is beautiful, but it is tough on solar. Sap, pollen, leaf litter, and traffic grime settle on panels and quietly drain output. Here is what Inner West solar owners deal with most.
We get it
We understand the frustration dirty solar panels cause
Dirty solar panels reduce performance, waste your investment, and under the Inner West tree canopy they soil faster than most people expect. A professional clean across the Inner West restores output, safety, and peace of mind.
Sap, pollen, and traffic grime build up gradually, and you barely notice until your generation drops and your bills creep back up. A film over the glass means your panels work harder for less, and nearby tree shade only adds to it. A professional clean restores output fast, and it is one of the quickest ways to get more from the system you already paid for.
Getting onto a steep terrace roof with little room to move is dangerous, and a hose or pressure washer can streak panels or damage the seals. Sticky sap in particular needs the right approach. Professional cleaners use safe access and gentle, non-abrasive methods for a proper clean. Leave it to the experts and get it done right the first time.
Our Inner West solar panel cleaning is simple from start to finish. Get a quote, approve online, and we come to you. No need to be home. We send before and after photos so you can see exactly what was cleaned. No guesswork, no fuss.
We take care of the whole job. No climbing on the roof, no water marks, and no giving up your weekend to do it yourself.
Every Vero solar panel clean follows a checklist so nothing gets missed. Here is what our team does on every visit.

Solar panel cleaning in the Inner West starts from $22 per panel for single storey roofs and $28 per panel for double storey, including GST. The final price depends on how many panels you have (bigger systems get a discount per panel), how many storeys, and how easy the roof is to reach. Every solar job has a $220 minimum plus a flat $50 setup fee, so the smallest job is $270. There is no callout fee in the Inner West. Terraces under heavy tree cover in spots like Newtown often carry sticky buildup, so we always quote first. See our pricing for the full breakdown.
It depends on your street. Homes under the big fig and jacaranda canopies around Newtown and Marrickville cop a lot of sap and pollen, so a 3-monthly clean keeps on top of it, or 6-monthly if the trees are lighter. Roofs with less tree cover usually only need a clean once a year, ideally in late November before the summer peak. We can set up a recurring clean with a discount so it is one less thing to track.
Yes. Sap, pollen, traffic film, and grime typically cost around 5-15% of output (more if droppings or lichen shade part of a panel), and partial shade from nearby trees makes the loss worse. A professional clean lifts the buildup off the glass so your system can generate closer to its full capacity again.
The best way is with soft brushes, non-abrasive cleaning, and pure water from safe roof-approved access, never a pressure washer that can damage seals. This matters on the steep, narrow rooflines of Inner West terraces, where there is little room to move and sticky sap needs proper technique. Read more on our main Sydney solar panel cleaning page.
Yes. Since the team is already up on the roof, we can clean your gutters and solar panels in the same visit. With all the leaf litter the Inner West canopy drops, that is a handy combination, so water, debris, and panels are all sorted at once.
Yes. We clean commercial and strata solar systems across the Inner West, including the shopfronts along King Street and the newer apartment blocks around Burwood and Marrickville. Our team is trained, insured, and ready to handle larger arrays safely and efficiently.
Look for a local team with strong reviews, clear pricing, and proper safety training. We clean panels right across the Inner West, from Glebe and Leichhardt to Ashfield and Strathfield. We are fully insured, police checked, and give you a transparent quote upfront.

Many homeowners clean their own panels. On a flat single-storey roof you could take a broom and hose up, but we do not really recommend it. Tap water is not pure, so it dries and leaves mineral marks on the glass, which partly defeats the purpose. It mostly comes down to safety. Roofs are dangerous, and water running around your feet up there makes it worse. It is a job for someone with a harness, an anchor and purified-water gear.
Purified (deionised) water is better. Tap water is not pure, so it dries and leaves mineral marks on the glass, and those marks cut output. We feed purified water through the brush and give every panel a final purified rinse, so nothing is left on the glass, whether the panels are flat or on an angle.
